Wildlife Cameras

We finally took the cameras down on December 20, in anticipation of a Winter class coming up to do their field work. The pictures we have taken and “movies” we made will be used as examples in some of the lecture sessions.

One interesting sequence we captured was 230 photos of elk going past over the course of 45 minutes. They went past single file at first, but suddenly stampeded at about the time Ken shot his elk several hundred yards away. Check out this short movie of the stampede.

Ken stalks elk several days prior to his success.

The elk walk by single file...

... until they hear the shot.
